If you’re lucky enough to spend Valentine’s Day in Tenerife, it will, without doubt, be the most romantic day of your year. A box of chocolates, a bouquet of roses and a candlelit dinner is a popular tried and tested way to celebrate, but if you really want to experience all the island has to offer, surprise your loved one with the plan that best suits you as a couple:

For the more adventurous

If your idea of a perfect weekend for involves putting on your hiking boots and discovering some of the most remote corners of the island, you’ll have a fabulous time in the Macizo de Anaga (Anaga Massif). There you will find endless nature trails to explore the spectacular laurel forest. If you prefer to stay in the south and go for something a bit more extreme, how does the idea of flying over Adeje and enjoying the most amazing views of the southern coast sound? An activity like paragliding is guaranteed to make it an unforgettable day!

For the couple that’s always arguing

Yes, we know this isn’t you, but we all know one couple at least that falls into this category. A great idea that will really put your love to the test and reveal whether, even with all the fighting, you really are in love, is to spend a day in Forestal Park, an adventure theme park set deep in the forest with zip-lines and nets connecting tree to tree. There’s no better way to blow off some steam than by climbing rock walls, going over suspension bridges and sliding down gigantic zip wires. If you find the circuit too difficult, you can always ask your partner for help…can’t you?

For the traditional romantics

You might be reading this post thinking: ‘but what’s wrong with the more traditional way of celebrating the most romantic date in the calendar?’ The answer is, of course, nothing. You get to choose exactly how to spend your day, but we’re going to share some ideas with you to add a Canarian touch to it, so you’ll always remember where you spent this special occasion. Can you think of a better way to spend Valentine’s Day than with your favourite person, watching the sun set from the highest point in Spain? On Mount Teide you can take part in the fabulous Sunset & Stars experience, where you’ll sample a delicious cocktail dinner of typical local cuisine before enjoying some star gazing with the help of professional telescopes and expert guides.

For the party animals

The south of Tenerife is well known for its party scene. With clubs like Magic and Papagayo Beach Club, which both enjoy prime locations in Playa de Las Américas, those wanting to dance the night away are in luck. To make the experience even more special, why not book a table in Papagayo for dinner and have a couple of glasses of wine to get the party started nice and early? If you prefer live music head to Magic, where fabulous nightly shows include a wide variety of talented musicians, singers and professional dancers.

For the more laid-back

If you can’t think of any better plan than for you and your partner to just chill out and relax in each other’s company in the most relaxed way possible, why not do exactly that, but on a wonderful Balinese bed on one of Tenerife’s best beaches? In Le Club, on Fañabé Beach, Costa Adeje, you can delight in a blissful day at the beach spent in a completely exclusive way, with delicious cocktails and a selection of international cuisine to boot. The perfect way to spend an exciting, indulgent, super relaxing day.

For speed demons

If your favourite film is The Fast and the Furious, you probably already know that the sixth instalment of the saga was filmed right here in Tenerife. If you also find yourself wanting to test your racing skills while you’re here, we have just the place! In the south of the island there’s Karting Tenerife, located in Parque de La Reina near Las Chafiras. If you want to explore the island’s capital, on the other hand, make the most of the trip and visit Karting Indoor at the same time, which is perfect for both experienced drivers and complete beginners. Open till late, there’s a cafeteria and restaurant to recharge your batteries after a thrilling driving experience.

For foodies

A day as special as Valentine’s is the perfect opportunity to discover the north of the island, which offers you dramatically different scenery to what you’ll find in the south. If you’re looking for somewhere nice to eat that also offers a lovely atmosphere, look no further than Chill Out Sandro & Restaurante Don Camilo in La Matanza de Acentejo. Here you can say those three magic words in a truly magical and unique setting, while you look out at the breath-taking views. If you don’t fancy going that far, the south is also home to wide selection of places to choose from, where you can enjoy great quality food in romantic surroundings. El Rincón de Juan Carlos in Los Gigantes is a perfect example, its local, cosmopolitan cuisine, which was recently awarded a Michelin star, will make the perfect highlight to a beautiful day spent in perfect company.
