Surely you have already begun to plan your holidays in Tenerife, a bit of beach, a romantic dinner in BB Restaurant, practice sport in Actívate Sports Club… But you might want to add some of Tenerife’s most amazing trails to your plan.
Today we have decided to discover some routes for Tenerife that, if you are a lover of hiking, you can not miss! The Canary Islands are known not only for their wonderful beaches and fantastic temperatures all year round, but also for their beautiful natural nooks and crannies – discover the contrasts of hiking in the Canaries! Do not hesitate, trekking in Tenerife can be the perfect ending to an idyllic holiday. These are the Tenerife hiking routes we have selected for you:
Vueltas de Taganana
This path will conquer you for its incalculable beauty and its surprising greenery. It is a path used for centuries by the inhabitants of the area, which was located as the only means of communication between the town of Taganana with Santa Cruz and La Laguna. It is a magical journey through one of the most spectacular laurel forests of Tenerife. The path starts at ‘Casa de las Cumbres’, on the main road TF-12, from there begins the descent to the beautiful village of Taganana where you can enjoy the traditional architecture of their houses and some of the beaches of an obligatory visit in Tenerife, Los Roques, Almáciga y Benijo. This hiking route in Tenerife has a medium/low difficulty.
Barranco del Infierno
Barranco del Infierno is one of the most beautiful hiking routes in Tenerife that you will find in the south of the island. Unlike other trekking routes in Tenerife that you can find, to be able to do this, you must reserve your place, as it is a Protected Natural Area and only allows access to 300 people per day, in order to preserve the environment. This route begins at Calle de los Molinos, in Adeje, and passes an old path of shepherds where after 3 kms we reach a spectacular waterfall over 200 meters high. The difficulty of this path is medium-low.
Path of Alto de Guajara
This hiking route from Tenerife starts from the Degollada de Guajara and goes to the summit known as ‘Alto de Guajara’, both located in the Teide National Park, it is, therefore, a high mountain trail with a medium-high difficulty but whose amazing views compensate the effort. We promise you that there are no better views of Teide, Pico Viejo and Montaña Blanca and you will also find on the way a rudimentary construction of an old observatory. Enjoy a pleasant walk through volcanic terrain, fauna and flora native to the Canary Islands. Finally, one of our favourite parts of this route is that, on clear days, you can glimpse the remaining islands of the Archipelago.
We hope that, with this small review of the most amazing trails of Tenerife, we have been able to help you decide to enjoy the nature of the island in its purest form. Spend a different day, break with the routine and let yourself be tucked away by the charms of our wonderful island.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to enjoy an adventure at sea, don’t miss the opportunity to take a look at the amazing excursions we have prepared for you on our catamaran, we do things differently!
